Release me from the chains of me
That keep me far from you
Free me from my selfish sense
My inward bent undo
For yes, I met the enemy
And yes, ’tis I, no doubt
I’d rather wallow in my angst
Than turn my vision out
So save me, Lord, from the enemy
That lives within my head
Renew my mind with holy truth
Let me live for you instead
I confess this day my weakness
To make my life unfold
In a way that makes a difference
To a lost and dying world
And then I declare my heart’s desire
To see your holy power
Changing lives and saving souls
Your grace upon all showered
To be a part of such a time
I would joyfully endeavor
But first, dear Lord, I beg you
Set my spirit toward you ever
